“Here is Edward Bear coming downstairs now – bump, bump, bump on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it.” – A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

What is Life Coaching?*
Life Coaching is an on-going collaborative partnership, a powerful alliance, in which the coach provides feedback, insights, and guidance to clients as they explore their dreams, desires, motivations, and goals. As clients stretch and evolve through coaching, they may find themselves:
- Doing more than they would on their own
- Taking themselves more seriously
- Creating momentum and consistency
- Taking more effective and focused actions
- Becoming more balanced and fulfilled
The coaching agenda is always set by the client. The coach is the client’s support, acting as a “change architect,” helping clients to move more fluidly and gracefully toward their goals. People who hire a coach may be looking for clarity in personal or family relationships, want to be more organized in their home or business life, are making a career change or want an accountability partner to help them transition through a lifestyle change. Others who hire a coach may simply feel a vague or general dissatisfaction with their lives and want an objective, non-judgmental guide as they re-evaluate life choices.

“Hi Debra, I wanted to say how grateful I am for your help over the past few months. You are a very intuitive, caring and empathetic coach. You listened actively and reflected back on our conversations making me realize how I always focused on what I had not done and always underplayed my achievements. Thank you for pointing out my achievements when I myself did not acknowledge them. Thanks also for making me sort through the tangled mess of my emotions and guiding me to find solutions for difficult situations. I always left our sessions feeling very positive and ready to take action and most importantly I felt hopeful. Thank you for being there for me. With Gratitude, A.”
Life Coaching is often conducted via telephone, in 50-minute sessions, usually once each week, at mutually agreed-upon times. This structure creates momentum for clients to move consistently toward their goals. Clients typically retain coaching services on a monthly or multiple-month basis (4 sessions per month). One-time sessions may be of benefit in a “crunch-time moment” or as a follow-up to work completed in monthly sessions. Variations to a sequential, weekly schedule may be arranged as needed.
